Good-bye Miss Oberste!

Today was Miss Oberste's last day of student teaching. We wish her all the best in her teaching career! We will miss her!

Family Reading Night!

Last night we had "Family Reading Night" funded by a grant from Target. Everyone had a great time and every child went home with a new book!! A special thank you to all my helpers who helped make it a huge success! It was lots of fun!! Thanks to all who participated!

Play-Doh Landforms

We've been studying landforms in Social Studies. We made Play-Doh landforms. Each kid at a table got a thing of Play-Doh. The whole table combined their Play-Doh. We tried to make as many landforms as we could. All the table's landforms turned out to look really cool. Everybody had a very fun time. Here are some of the landforms we made: a desert, ocean, and a mesa. It was really fun and I hope I do something like that again.

What Do Chicks Look Like in Their Shell?

I have more news about the chicks! Apparently, they're duds. On the bright side, I asked Ms. Iten if I could take them home and crack them open! So, after school, I went to her classroom and picked six eggs. The first one was not interesting, or the second, or the third, all the way up to the fifth. But, the sixth egg actually had a dead bird! It's a good thing I was patient.

Chicks!

We got our chicks in the afternoon, Ms. Iten surprised us. We got four of them. The Rock and Roll Funky Monkeys named their chick Julio Speedy Ricardo. The Spirit Tribe named theirs Chocolate Chip Cookie, Cookie, for short. The Brain Glides named theirs Peeper Loud. The Fireballs named theirs Puff Ball, Puff, for short. Julio is brown with black on the back. Cookie is all light brown. Peeper is all yellow. Puff is dark brown with white stripes on the back. I think everyone enjoyed it!

M & M Fractions

Yesterday we did M & M fractions with Miss Oberste. First we each got a small packet of M & M's. Then we sorted them into colors. We graphed them, then made fractions such as, however many of one color over however many M & M's you have. We traded results with a partner. I think it helped us because we had a visual. Afterward, we got to eat our M & M's. It was very fun.

Board Game!

Last week Miss Oberste taught us how to play a game. You had to have a board and a tile and this is how you play. You play on the board and you do numbers like 1,2,5,10,0. If you get the answer right you get to slide the tile and try to get it on a number besides zero. But if it falls off, it is a negative two. It was really, really fun!
