A Day at the Play

By: Maggie B.

On September 25, 2008, our class went with the rest of the school to the gym to see a play. It was acted by The Windy City Players. They acted out the movie Aladdin. We all thought it was funny, especially when the genie came out and when Aladdin was day dreaming about the princess. We thought they were very good and we can’t wait until the next one.

Accelerated Reader

The Accelerated Reader Program is now available online. Your child can take tests at home or at school. I do not require my class to take the tests, but they are strongly encouraged. We now have access to all the tests, so many of the books they are reading will be on the website.

Use this link to get started. http://hosted74.renlearn.com/219851/
Your child's user name is their first initial and the first four letters of their last name (All CAPS) example: John Smith would be JSMIT
Their password would be their first and last initial (All CAPS) example: JS

Please let me know if you have any problems or questions.

Butterfly Garden

We've been spending time in our beautiful outdoor classroom. The butterfly garden is in full bloom. We saw our first monarch butterfly today and there have been several sightings of hummingbirds. I tried to get a picture of the butterfly, but it wouldn't cooperate!
Thanks again to Mrs. Oakley who made all this possible. She and her students have spent so much time and energy working in the garden. All your hard work is truly appreciated!!
Another special thanks to my friends Matthew & Lora Weatherbee. They are the owners of Blossom's Nursery in Muskogee. They generously donated all the plants for the butterfly garden.

Spelling Fun

Ask your child to "write" a spelling word on your back and you try to guess the word; then switch roles. It's a fun way to practice!

I'm Back!

It is great to be back at school! I am teaching full time now and feeling really well. I still have to be careful and I have a few restrictions, so please be patient with me as I ease back into working.

Thank You!

Thanks to my students and their families for all the cards, gifts, and prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. I am feeling well and getting stronger everyday! I will see my doctor on Monday and I am hopeful she will let me return to work.
A special thank you to Melinda Staurovsky for doing such a great job in my absence. She is a wonderful teacher. I am able to rest and focus on my recovery knowing my students are in such capable hands!
